Job Purpose and Mandate

Our company is adding a Bookkeeper/General Accountant to its support centre, to allow our clients to outsource more of their finance and business support needs.

The role of the Bookkeeper/General Accountant will be to support the controller in the overall delivery of our finance outsource services.  The ideal candidate will work closely with all members of the team, as well as clients, in order to complete full-cycle accounting functions. You will need to maintain accurate, timely, and concise reporting, be able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced environment, and efficiently service multiple clients at a high level of quality.

Client Responsibilities:

Perform all full-cycle accounting duties, including, but not limited to:

  • Maintaining listing of A/P and A/R, checking invoices for accuracy, entering invoices in accounting system, matching and processing all invoices, collections, and billing
  • Participate in the month-end and year-end financial reporting
  • Participate in the preparation of financial statements, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Complete company and clients’ payroll
  • Monitor accounts for non-payment and delayed payment. Follow up when necessary
  • Update, verify, and maintain accounting journals, ledgers, and other financial records
  • Create all monthly reporting, for all clients, for the different government agencies
  • Prepare and perform deposits
  • Actively supporting budgeting and forecasting activities of the client.
Job Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Recognized university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business, Accounting, and Economics).
  • Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience in various industries or within an accounting firm.
  • Resourceful, organized, and willingness to learn.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment, while managing clients at the same time, under tight time constraints.
  • Capable of performing accurate data entry.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and strong ability to learn new systems.
  • Strong analytical and strategic mindset, organized and autonomous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with others in a professional, influential manner.

Job Assets:

  • Experience in both product and service companies.
  • Experience in a shared service centre or centre of excellence.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite and/or QuickBooks financial application would be considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset.
