Job Description

As the starting and senior position within our firmware team in Ottawa, you will develop firmware controls for optical line system products and provide local leadership and mentoring to other firmware engineers. The embedded control firmware is used for control of high-reliability, fiber-optic products including line cards, optoelectronic modules and sub-system controllers. Line card products include EDF amplifiers, Raman amplifiers, ROADMs, OPM, OCM, optical switches, OTDR, spectrum equalizers and the like.

In the firmware development role you will work on multiple tasks in a dynamic engineering environment: optical control firmware development, FW DVT and HW DVT test automation, FW DVT execution and manufacturing PCBA test automation. You will contribute to control algorithm development and be responsible for FW design, then coding on DSP, MCU, FPGA and SOC platforms. Responsibilities then include unit testing, HW integration, optical integration, SW integration and debug.


Job Qualifications

Experience Requirements

• At least 6+ years of engineering experience in appropriate function
• At least 5 years of experience in a design and development function for optical line system products
• At least 5 years of experience in firmware or embedded software development with TI’s DSP, Xilinx’s ZYNQ SOC or similar microprocessors
• Prefer years of experience integrating various and adjacent disciplines including optical, HW (electronics) or test automation
• Prefer years of experience coding with components, containers and similar
