Job Description


The position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting transactions of the company, including payroll and benefits, accounts payable, accounts receivable and the general ledger, reporting directly to the Controller.

Job Qualifications


·        3 to 5 years of progressive experience as a bookkeeper working directly in an accounting department

·        Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task

·        Good interpersonal and communication skills

·        Strong Technical competency (eg. Quickbooks and Excel)

·        Ability to take initiative

·        An accounting or business administrative degree or equivalent business experience would be an asset


·        Manage the accounting system and ensure all day to day transactions are recorded on a timely and accurate basis for both offices

·        Complete all account reconciliations on a monthly basis and bring the books to the trial balance stage

·        Work directly with the Controller and other administrative/accounting staff as required

·        Assist Controller in managing office and administrative functions including office security and office space lease

·        All payroll matters and support on Human Resource matters in conjunction with the Controller and President

·        Process and manage accounts payable process including issuance of cheques and employee expenses, ensuring proper controls are followed

·        Perform required banking transactions and daily bank reconciliations

·        Maintain cash flow update

·        Ongoing maintenance of accounting system and accounting records

·        Prepare for and work with auditors at year end

·        Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings under the direction of the Controller

·        Other tasks as required


·        Salary Range:             $50,000 to $55,000 (commensurate with experience)

·        Vacation:                     3 weeks per fiscal

·        Benefits                       Health, Dental, LTD & AD & D

·     Sick Leave:                     5 days per fiscal year
